trying something new: Lakaz Maman review

April 17, 2016

We all like to try something new, the best way i like doing this is by challenging my taste buds and going out for dinner. Don’t get me wrong, i love a good home cooked meal – especially when i’m not cooking it – but there is just something so magical about experiencing new things.

3 things i love about going out for dinner:

1. i don’t have too cook

2. i don’t have to wash up

3. i get to enjoy a night out with the girls.

After the weeks weather my friend and i thought we deserved a bit of sun and spice. Reaching a not so difficult decision we agreed to try out a new place in the center of Bedford Place, just up the road from where we live.. Lakaz Maman

As you walk in the vibe hits you like the sun rays, makes you feel so warm and welcome. This restaurant is the first from Shelina Permalloo – a previous masterchef winner. Now, i’m an avid masterchef viewer so i just could not resist the opportunity.

The food was amazing, we started with some samosa’s to start and then moved onto our mains. I ordered the chicken curry and my friend ordered a butterbean one. The curry came in lovely coconut shell looking bowls with a mound of rice and a dipping sauce along with it. The smell as soon as it arrived was so gorgeous – i new i made the right decision.
After we ate we stayed and chatted, Shelina’s other half came and spoke to us – he was so welcoming and just added to the experience. Although the restaurant is small, the vibe is so upbeat and conversational it didn’t matter about the size.

I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t been yet. If you’re looking for something different and want to venture from your normal meat and 2 veg this is the place to be. Friday was my first visit.. and it definitely won’t be my last.
